In 1998 two boys had a go at me by thumping and kicking me. It only happened once but I decided I didn't want it to happen again so I started Karate a couple of weeks later. I haven't looked back since and rarely miss the weekly karate session. Karate hasn't just helped me to defend myself, it keeps me fit and healthy. It also keeps me strong and supple which is useful on the football pitch where you can find me most weekends playing in the local boys league. I thoroughly enjoy karate even though it can be very tiring sometimes. I find that I make most progress at the weekend courses which are the most tiring of all because they last for hours and hours. One of the bonuses of the weekend courses is the chance to be upgraded. I am currently a junior 1st Kyu (brown belt) and hope to gain my black belt in the near future. Craig Hogg February
